Volleyball Drops Game Against Jacksonville State

CMU Volleyball fell 1-3 to JSU in the final game of the Bradley Invitational.
PEORIA, Ill. – The Chippewa Volleyball team fell 1-3 to Jacksonville State on Saturday afternoon.
Central Michigan moves to 3-6 on the season while the Gamecocks advance to 5-4.
CMU dropped the first set to the Gamecocks, 19-25. The Chippewas tallied nine kills as a team, with Izzy Swiercz, Brooklyn Conner and Abby Olin combining for six of those, with two apiece. Alina Anderson led the team defensively in the first set with five digs.
In the second set, the Chippewas were first to 15, as they head into the media timeout with a 15-12 lead over Jacksonville State. Central Michigan took a victory in the second set, 25-18 over the Gamecocks. CMU recorded four aces in the set, two from Grace Thomas who had the lone ace in set one for CMU.
In the third set, CMU and JSU were tied at four, before JSU pulled to a 10-4 lead, causing Coach Arielle Wilson to call a timeout. CMU found themselves trailing 7-17, before falling 10-25 in the set. The Chippewas hit -.087 in the third set, while Jacksonville State hit .458.
Central Michigan dropped the fourth set of the match to JSU, to take the loss.
The fourth set was a closely contested back-and-forth battle that never had a lead greater than three points for either team. The Chippewas dropped the set 25-22 to close the Bradley Invitational.
Swiercz led the Chippewas on the offensive end with 10 kills, hitting .444. Karla Sanchez-George recorded 16 assists, Keelyn Muell with 18, and Taylor Cripe dug 18 balls.
The Chippewas will be back in action on the 17th as the team heads to Ann Arbor to take on the Wolverines at 7 p.m.
