The reigning ASUN Offensive Player of the Year, recent graduate of Coastal Carolina named Assistant Coach under Emilia Ward
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Central Michigan Lacrosse has announced 2025 Atlantic Sun Conference Offensive Player of the Year Sydney McClure as an assistant coach Monday.
Â
"We are excited to welcome Sydney to the program," Head Coach Emilia Ward said. "Her passion and energy will be an amazing addition to the team, and we can't wait to see what she is able to bring to our attack group."
Â
McClure joins the Chippewas as a two-time All-ASUN First Team honoree and graduate of Coastal Carolina University. Her presence with the Chanticleers led to a prolific attack in the ASUN that produced back-to-back ASUN Championship appearances, winning the 2024 conference title. Her senior season added her name as a the single-season record-holder for goals scored, and a nomination as Coastal's Female Athlete of the Year.
Â
While at Coastal Carolina, McClure played an active part in the program's summer camps and clinics as a coach and aided recruiting efforts through campus tours and holding Q&A sessions with prospects.
Â
She graduated cum laude from Coastal Carolina University with her bachelor's in sport communication in 2024, earning IWLCA Honor Roll and ASUN All-Academic honors then immediately moved to pursue a master's in sport management from CCU during her final season with an expected completion of 2026.
Â
McClure has offered private, individual lessons for players between 10-15 years of age and spent the summer of 2022 as the head coach of the Atlanta Storm Lacrosse Club, designing practices and individualized development plans, and communicating with her players' families during travel to and from tournaments.
