Chippewas take week hiatus to prepare for league-leader Western Michigan
OXFORD, Ohio — Central Michigan Soccer had its momentum from Thursday's draw with current league third-seed Kent State cut off by Miami (OH) Sunday afternoon, 3-0, in Mid-American Conference play.
Â
The Chippewas were tripped up by a pair of RedHawk goals within a 30-second window between the 17th and 18th minutes, just the second and third attempts at goal in the contest. The lid-lifter came as a Miami forward was behind the defense to corral a rebound in front of the 6'.
Â
Central Michigan battled notable inclement weather for the first time this season with standing water around the pitch, wind gusts of 30 miles per hour and temperatures in the low 50s.
Â
Brylee Borgman (Norton Shores, Mich. / Mona Shores) tallied six saves for the Chippewas in her ninth start of the season.
Â
Rachel Jackson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich. / Detroit Country Day) and Grace Cameron (Clio, Mich. / Flint Powers) each posted an on-target attempt in the first half. Jackson's was early in the seventh minute from outside the 18'; Cameron's attempt in the heart of the box was through contact on a late tackle.
Â
Chippewa Soccer gets a full week before visiting MAC-leading Western Michigan next Sunday (Oct. 26; 1 p.m. ET). The 2025 regular season concludes October 29 with a visit from Eastern Michigan, kickoff at 3 p.m. ET.
