GREEN BAY, Wis. --Â Central Michigan volleyball kicked off their weekend early falling in straight sets to St. Thomas (MN) on Thursday in their first match of the Capital Credit Union Classic, hosted by UW-Green Bay.
The Tommies move to 4-6 on the season and the Chippewas fall to 5-5. St. Thomas took the match 25-15, 25-19 and closed it out with a 26-24 set.
Junior opposite, Krystina Kasson continued her streak of the hot hand with a team-leading 11 kills on an impressive .360 hitting percentage. Junior libero Aly Gurtiza led all Chippewas with 19 digs, while Claire Ammeraal assisted on 16 balls, dug 11 balls and had three kills.Â

CMU also logged a six-point run to go up 18-16, but the remainder of the match held a back-and-forth which ultimatley saw St. Thomas take the set 26-24 in a true nailbiter.Â
CMU returns to action on Friday as they play the host Green Bay, set for a 7 p.m. ET start. The Chippewas conclude their weekend slate with a Saturday match against South Dakota at 1 p.m. ET.
