Chippewas achieve a school-record 3.39 spring 2025 semester grade point average; football sets school-record with 3.23 spring 2025 semester GPA; Chippewas complete 53rd consecutive semester in which student-athletes achieved a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.— Once again, Central Michigan University student-athletes completed a successful 2024-25 academic year as the Chippewas combined to set a record for highest all-time semester grade point average with a 3.39 mark for the spring 2025 semester. In addition, Central Michigan Athletics completed its 53rd consecutive semester in which student-athletes registered a 3.0 cumulative grade point average or higher.

A variety of CMU's academic accomplishments include:
- Central Michigan student-athletes concluded the spring 2025 semester with a school-record 3.39 cumulative grade point average.
- Football posted its all-time high grade point average for a semester (3.23 in spring 2025). The football team also experienced a +0.47 GPA improvement in its cumulative grade point average from the 2024 fall semester to the 2025 spring semester.
- At the end of the spring 2025 semester, 342 student-athletes or 77 percent of all student-athletes achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher, 226 student-athletes (51 percent) achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, and 49 had a 4.0 GPA.
- At the conclusion of the spring 2025 semester, the CMU women's cross country and gymnastics squads tied for the highest team cumulative GPA of 3.69.
- This past spring, women's cross country and gymnastics tied for the highest semester team GPA with a 3.73.
- Twelve out of Central Michigan's 16 sports programs posted a team cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
- The CMU women's basketball program registered the highest team grade point average increase from the 2024 fall semester to the 2025 spring semester (+0.57).
