UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – Central Michigan Men's Golf took to the Chambers Bay Golf Course on Monday as the Chippewas competed in the first two rounds of the Seattle U. RedHawk Invitational.

After the first day on the 2015 U.S. Open Championship course, the Chippewas stand 18th, with Oregon State, Idaho and host Seattle U. leading the rankings.

"Some good, some bad," opened Head Coach Kevin Jennings on the day's play. "We had a couple guys who had one good round and did not have two consecutive good rounds."

"The guys feel as though they left some shots out there, and felt as though they could have played a little stronger, but there were things that they learned, that we all learned out there and we look forward to applying them moving forward."

Arie Jackman (+3) leads CMU after the first two rounds, having shot a 4-over 75 in round one, but carded a redeeming 1-under 70 in the evening round. The senior is tied for 33rd heading into Tuesday.

Tied for 51st is Philippe Yturralde, who stands 5-over through two rounds with 147. Yturralde shot an even 71 in the morning round and 76 in round two.

Orlando Coons is tied for 77th (+9), with a day one total of 151. The sophomore carded 73 and 78, respectively.

After the first two rounds, Easton Phillips is tied for 88th and Jeffrey Andrus is 103rd.

"We're looking forward to having the opportunity tomorrow to improve upon what the guys have done," Jennings said. "We want to continue to move in the right direction as far as their development is concerned.

"We're feeling very positive about what's going on and the opportunity that we have tomorrow."

CMU, which is scheduled to compete the Mountaineer Invitational prior to closing the season on the Mid-American Conference Championship, will play the final round of the RedHawk Invitational on Tuesday.
