Arie Jackman finished tied for 13th, 2-under par in three-round tournament
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Central Michigan Men's Golf wrapped up The Surf Club Invitational on Tuesday, posting a 289 on the final day to total 863 in the three-round tournament and finish 12th of 16 as a team.

The Chippewas were 10th after the first two rounds on Monday with 291, 283.

"This was a good event for us," said Head Coach Kevin Jennings. "It is a good marker, or indicator, of where we are now in our fourth semester of competition. The venue was very straightforward and competitive as well, and a great opportunity for us to continue to develop and elevate what we're doing, to get a little better as well."

CMU's Arie Jackman finished tied for 13th, carding a total of 211 (-2) between 73, 66 and 72 on the par 71 course.

Philippe Yturralde shot 71 to finish 2-over on the tournament, combined with his 71 and 73 from Monday, to place tied for 35th.

Jeffrey Andrus finished tied for 43rd, carding 72 on Tuesday. He shot 73 and 72 on Monday.

Orlando Coons (74, 72, 74) placed tied for 48th and Easton Phillips (75, 75, 80) tied for 90th.

"We competed well, though we may have dropped a little (on round 3)," Jennings said. "We're still learning, I feel as though we'll learn a lot in the next few months and years with what we're doing.

"I think we're doing well and competing well, and we look forward for the next opportunity to compete, to learn. I don't feel as though we've regressed, we maybe did not do what we wanted to do today, but we can and will learn from what we've done. I think the entire team is learning, I liked the way they fought and competed down the stretch to turn the rounds that they had, they were teetering and they worked hard to bring those rounds in pretty solid."

Connecticut won the team title, finishing with a three-round score of 825 (-27). Host Appalachian State's Addison Beam took home the individual title on a playoff win against the Huskies' Ray Dennehy.

CMU is slated to host its first event since program reinstatement on March 25-26, the Bridgestone Collegiate Invitational, a joint venture between CMU, the PGA Tour's Pathway to Progression and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The event will take place at the Silverado Resort in Napa, California.

"The Bridgestone Collegiate Invitational is going to be a high-level collegiate event," Jennings said. "We're looking forward to hosting teams that are very competitive and ranked highly, as an indicator as to where we look to be headed, and looking forward to competing and learning at that level."
