Chippewas look to close out tournament on Tuesday
NASHPORT, Ohio — The Central Michigan men's golf team scored a combined 582 (+6) through 36 holes to finish 12thon Monday at Miami (Ohio)'s Virtues Intercollegiate, hosted at the Virtues Golf Club.
CMU carded a team score of 290 in round one and 292 in round two.
Sophomore Philippe Yturralde leads the Chippewas in a ninth-place tie, having shot a 4-under 140 (74, 66) through two rounds on the par 72 course. In round two's shotgun start, he recorded an eagle on hole 16, his last of the day.
Michigan leads the 17-team tournament with a 24-under 552. Marshall sits in second at 562 with Ryan Bilby leading at a 10-under 134.
The Chippewas' Jeffrey Andrus (T36) finished the day 1-over par, having shot a combined 145 (69, 76). Easton Phillips, who also carded an eagle on hole 16 in round two, tied for 44th (73-73, 146) and shares the team lead for birdies (9) with Yturralde.
Arie Jackman finished tied for 70th and Trey Rusthoven sits in 86th headed to the final round.
The Chippewas look to close out the tournament with the final 18 holes on Tuesday (8:30 a.m.).
