
CMU Athletes Complete Successful 2022-23 in the Classroom

Chippewas achieve a cumulative 3.34 grade point average, post 48th and 49th consecutive semesters of a 3.0 combined grade point average.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.— Central Michigan University student-athletes completed a successful 2022-23 year in the classroom as the Chippewas registered their 48th and 49th consecutive semesters in which the group collectively achieved an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
"We are proud of the achievements and accomplishments of all of our student-athletes," Zyzelewski Family Associate Vice President/Director of Athletics Amy Folan said. "It is Central Michigan Athletics' primary goal to develop young men and women who exemplify the definition of a student-athlete in its truest form. The department's mission also includes providing an authentic environment in which student-athletes can thrive both academically and athletically."

A variety of CMU's academic accomplishments include:
- Central Michigan student-athletes concluded the spring 2023 semester with a 3.34 cumulative grade point average.
- At the end of the spring 2023 semester, 327 student-athletes achieved cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher, 206 student-athletes achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, and 12 had a 4.0 GPA.
- At the conclusion of the spring 2023 semester, the CMU women's cross country squad compiled the highest team cumulative GPA of 3.70.
- This past spring, field hockey posted the highest semester team GPA with a 3.69.
- Thirteen of Central Michigan's 16 teams posted a team cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
- The CMU football team registered the highest team grade point average increase from the 2022 fall semester to the 2023 spring semester (+0.36).
- Seventy-five student-athletes graduated from Central Michigan University combining December 2022 and May 2023. Of the 75 December and May graduates, 62 notched cumulative GPAs of 3.0 or higher, 48 earned a 3.5 or higher, and one earned a 4.0 GPA.
