Easton Phillips leads the Chippewas, Philippe Yturralde Trailing Close

JONESBORO, Ar. — The Central Michigan men's golf team opened play on Monday at the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate at Arkansas State's fall tournament at the RidgePointe Country Club.

CMU is placed 11^th in the 16-team field after rounds one and two, where the Chippewas shot 3-over 289-291—580.

Sophomore Easton Phillips leads the Chippewas tied for 32^nd with a 70-73-143 after 36 holes on the par 72 course. Philippe Yturralde, who shot a program-low 74-66-71—211 at the Virtues Intercollegiate, is close behind with a 70-74—144 and tied for 37^th.

Host Arkansas State leads the tournament at a 35-under par 270-271—541 with seven Redwolf golfers in the top 10. Jacksonville State's Erik Jansson sits in first place after carding an 11-under 65-68—133.

Also in the lineup for the Chippewa golfers are Trey Rusthoven (tied for 50^th), Arie Jackman (tied for 59^th) and Jeffrey Andrus (tied for 78^th).

The Chippewas will pick back up for the final round on Tuesday.
