Wheeler, Targgart Earn Weekly MAC Honors

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Two members of the Central Michigan track & field team were honored by the Mid-American Conference on Tuesday.
CMU's Logan Targgart and Quiara Wheeler were named the MAC Male and Female Athlete of the Week, respectively, for their performances at the Michigan Silverston Invitational at the U-M Indoor Track Building.
Targgart, a senior from Coldwater, set a meet record in placing second in the weight throw. Targgart's throw measured 71 feet, 5 ½ inches.
Wheeler, a junior from Flint, won the weight throw with a toss of 63 feet, 9 ¾ inches. Her throw measured more than three feet longer than that of the runner-up.
The Chippewas are scheduled to compete in the MAC Indoor Championships on Feb. 28-29 at Akron.
