To qualify, a student-athlete must have a 3.2 or better grade point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of his or her team’s competitions.
Among the Chippewas' top performances was that of junior Kevin Weiler, who placed 23rd in the men’s shot put at with a toss of 59-8 ¼, a personal best. His previous outdoor best was 58-6.
The meet gets underway on Thursday and runs through Saturday. Each event features 48 participants and the top 12 finishers in each advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore. June 6-9.
The Chippewa women finished fourth and their point total, 69, far exceeded the 26 they scored last year at the MAC Championships.The CMU men more than doubled their 2017 point total (42.5) and the 115 was the most they have scored in the MAC Championships since the 137 they recorded in 2012.
