Two Central Michigan standouts are now eligible for the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America teams.
Ball State got two first-inning home runs and two Cardinal pitchers limited the Chippewas to four hits on Thursday as CMU fell, 5-1, in a tourney elimination game at Firestone Stadium. The Chippewas opened the tournament on Wednesday with an 8-6 10-inning loss to Toledo.
The Chippewas are scheduled to play an elimination game against Ball State at 6 p.m. The start of that game is likely to be delayed. Western Michigan and Miami (Ohio) were scheduled to open day two of the tournament this morning.
Freshman Shaidan Knapp finished with four hits to lead CMU’s 14-hit attack. Erika Underwood and Morgan Gardner added two hits apiece.
