2014 Schedule

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan head soccer coach Peter McGahey has announced the program's 2014 schedule, revealing a line-up that is highlighted by a total of seven home matches, including two three-game home stands, and a highly competitive non-conference slate.

After opening with an exhibition match at Pittsburgh on August 16, the Chippewas will make their regular season debut on the road in Chicago on August 22 when they face BIG EAST power DePaul. After its battle with the Blue Demons, CMU will travel to take on Illinois State and Detroit before returning back to Mount Pleasant for its home opener versus Oakland on September 5.

Following a road match-up with in-state foe Michigan (Sept. 7), a team which advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals in 2013, and a trip west for contests against Air Force (Sept. 12) and defending Conference USA champion Colorado College (Sept. 14), the Chippewas will conclude non-conference play at the CMU Soccer Complex versus IPFW on Sept. 19.

CMU will open Mid-American Conference action at home on when it hosts Northern Illinois (Sept. 26) and rival Western Michigan (Sept. 28) on the final weekend in September.

Four consecutive road conference games, against Ball State, Miami, Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan, ensue to kick off the month of October.

CMU will begin its second three-game home stand of the season on October 17 when it welcomes Buffalo to Mount Pleasant. The program's Senior Day is scheduled for October 19 and will feature a clash with Akron. The Chippewas will meet Ohio in their home finale on October 24.

Central Michigan will then wrap up regular season play at Kent State (Oct. 26) and at Toledo (Oct. 30).

The MAC Tournament is scheduled for November 2-9.

Entering his second year at CMU, McGahey returns 11 players who started at least one game in 2013, including leading goal-scorer Laura Gosse and All-MAC selections Kaylin Hoomaian and Samantha Maher, and were part of a squad that tied for the most conference wins with eight.
