MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- The Central Michigan lacrosse team begins its fall exhibition season on Saturday with a play day at Detroit Mercy. It is the first of three play days – and five competition days overall – on the Chippewas’ fall slate.
CMU is scheduled to play host to Indianapolis on Sunday, Sept. 24 (2 p.m.), and will host its own play day on Sunday, Oct. 15.
“Our fall schedule provides a great balance of quality minutes and great opponents,” CMU coach Sara Tisdale said. “With many rule changes for the ’17-18 season, the time spent on the field during our fall games will be critical to our team’s spring success.
“Fans should expect to see a much faster game with free movement during fouls, self-starts off of out of bounds balls, and holding players behind the restraining line until possession is gained on the draw. Our players and staff are excited about these changes.”
Concordia St. Paul, Marquette, Grand Valley State, Northern Michigan, Davenport, Indiana Tech, Detroit Mercy, and Findlay are scheduled to participate in CMU’s play day on Oct. 15.
Games are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and the day will conclude at approximately 5 p.m. The games will be played at both the CMU Lacrosse-Soccer Stadium and at the adjacent the Lyle Bennett Outdoor Track & Field Complex.
CMU is scheduled to play Concordia at 9 a.m., Marquette at noon, and Grand Valley State at 3 p.m.
CMU’s fall slate includes a Sept. 30-Oct. 1 trip to Notre Dame and then Robert Morris.
