SETTING THE SCENE
The Central Michigan gymnastics team will travel to California this weekend for two meets. CMU will take on California in Berkeley on Friday (10 p.m.), and then on Sunday (5 p.m.) will partake in a quad meet at San Jose State. Air Force and Seattle Pacific will round out the field for the quad.
WHERE THEY STAND
The Chippewas are 6-2 in duals and ranked 29th nationally with a 195.484 average. CMU is ranked 20th on uneven bars, 29th on floor exercise, and 32nd on both vault and balance beam. The Chippewas' best score this season is a 196.375.
California is 4-4 and is ranked 18th with a 195.863 average. The Bears are ranked seventh on vault, 11th on floor exercise, 18th on balance beam, and 27th on uneven bars. The Bears' best score this season is a 197.500.
San Jose State is 6-9 and is ranked 48th nationally with a 194.021 average. The Spartans are ranked 41st on floor exercise, 41st on vault, 52nd on balance beam and 54 on uneven bars. San Jose State's best score this season is a 194.500. Air Force, with a 193.050 average, is ranked 57th, and Seattle Pacific is 66th (190.250).
LAST TIME OUT
The Chippewas posted a 195.375 in finishing third in a tri-meet with Ohio State and Bowling Green. CMU finished .025 behind Bowling Green in taking its first MAC dual loss of the season.
The Chippewas will compete on the road again, on Sunday, March 11, when they take on Ohio State and North Carolina State in a nonconference trimeet in Columbus, Ohio.
