CMU coach Jerry Reighard has had 143 of his student-athletes earn Scholastic All-American honors during his 33 years in charge of the Chippewa program.
To be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.2 or better grade point average and appear in at least 50 percent of her team's meets. True freshman and first-year transfers are ineligible.
Pedrick, a freshman from Wilcox, Saskatchewan, scored 9.8375 on vault. Clements, a junior from Gainesville, Ga., posted a 9.8625 on beam. Eighty-seven gymnasts participated on beam, 86 on vault.
Pedrick and Clements are the first Chippewas to qualify for the nationals since 2014, when Taylor Noonan, Halle Moraw and Emily Heinz qualified on the balance beam. Before that, it had been a decade -- Sara Burtinsky in 2004 -- since a Chippewa had qualified for the nationals.
