JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Central Michigan golf team will play this week in the North Florida Collegiate at Jacksonville Golf & Country Club.
The 17-team field comprises CMU and host North Florida, alopng with Charleston Southern, Chattanooga, Cincinnati, Daytona State, Delaware, Eastern Kentucky, Murray State, Old Dominion, Samford, Stetson, Alabama Birmingham, South Alabama, Toledo, Western Kentucky and Xavier.
The two-day, 54-hole stroke-play begins with 36 holes on Monday and concludes on Tuesday. The course plays to par 72 over 5,926 yards.
The Chippewas are coming off a 17th-place finish in the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational in Rio Verde, Ariz.
Freshman Jami Laude and senior Natalie Johnson are leading the Chippewas in 18-hole scoring average. Both have logged 17 rounds in seven events in 2017-18. Laude is averaging 78.12, while Johnson checks in at 78.23.
Laude led the Chippewas with a 238 total at the Rio Verde.
The North Florida Collegiate is the first of two that CMU will play during Spring Break in Florida. The Chippewas are also scheduled to partake in the Spring Break Shootout next weekend at Lake Jovita Golf Club in Dade City, Fla.
