MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan field hockey head coach Cristy Freese has announced the addition of former Chippewa Emily Girasole to her staff as a graduate assistant.
Originally from Orchard Park, N.Y., Girasole served as a student assistant at CMU last season, performing video analysis, formulating drills and coordinating travel arrangements. She also gained coaching experience at the Orchard Park Field Hockey Camp in 2012-13, teaching skills to players aged 7-18.
A four-year letterwinner from 2009-12, Girasole played in 72 games for the Chippewas, starting 52, including all 19 in her senior season. Playing as a forward her first three seasons and as a back in her final year, she totaled four goals and one assist for her career.
Girasole's primary focus as a graduate assistant will be skill development and working with the defense and goalkeepers.
Girasole graduated from CMU with a Bachelor of Science degree in education, majoring in physical education with a minor in health education.
The Chippewas kicked off preseason camp last week in preparation for the 2014 season opener at home on Friday, Aug. 29 at 3 p.m. versus Maine.
