Annie Hansbury joined the Central Michigan field hockey coaching staff in June 2016.

Hansbury served as an assistant at Colby (Maine) College for the past four years, helping the Mules to a 31-29 record. She will be primarily responsible for coaching midfield and defense with CMU.

"Annie is going to complement the areas that I think can really help me to be a better coach," said Pelowski, who is entering her second year in charge of the Chippewa program.

"We're really excited to have her. She's full of energy, she's creative, she wants to make our program better and her investment in it is motivating for me."

At Colby, Hansbury worked with the goalkeepers and counted recruiting, scouting, game-day management and player evaluation among her responsibilities.

Hansbury was a two-time All-American at UMass Lowell from 2008-11, helping lead the River Hawks to two Northeast-10 Conference championships and the 2010 NCAA Division II title.

She served as the team captain in 2011, when the River Hawks finished as the NCAA runner-up.

"Annie is a former national champion so she's been to the mountain, she knows what it's going to take to get our program to the next level," Pelowski said.

Hansbury has also served as a volunteer assistant at Bryant (R. I.) University, and as a coach/administrator with several field hockey clubs and camps in New England.

"She has been pretty involved with a number of clubs out there," Pelowski said. "She has an eye for talent and we both have a very complementary style for what sort of athletes we're looking for. I think it's a great start on moving our program forward with championship aspirations."

Hansbury earned a bachelor of arts in psychology from UMass Lowell and her master's in athletic administration from Southern New Hampshire.
