CLEVELAND - The Central Michigan women's basketball team is headed to the NCAA Tournament after its 96-91 victory against Buffalo on Saturday in the Mid-American Conference Tournament championship game.
CMU's first-round opponent and its destination will be announced on Monday on the "The NCAA Women's Basketball Selection Special," which begins at 7 p.m. on ESPN. The tournament comprises 64 teams competing at one of 16 on-campus sites for the first round.
Fans can join the Chippewas players and coaching staff at 6 p.m. Monday to watch the selection show at Hunter's Ale House.
Tickets will go on sale online Monday night on cmuchippewas.com immediately following the announcement, and tickets must be purchased from CMU by 11 a.m. Tuesday for fans to be ensured of sitting with fellow Chippewas.
Fans also can purchase tickets from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ticket Central in the John G. Kulhavi Events Center or by calling 989-774-3045. Seating priority is based on time of purchase and status in the Chippewa Athletic Fund.
Tickets also will be available at the selection show gathering at Hunter's Ale House.
The first and second rounds are scheduled for March 16-19. The 16 winners advance to the March 23-26 regionals at one of four sites: Lexington, Ky.; Kansas City, Mo.; Albany, N.Y.; and Spokane, Wash.
