Track & Field Signs Four

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Jenny Swieton has announced a signing class of four incoming athletes.

The four new Chippewa student-athletes are Gavin Jaime of Shorewood, Ill.; Gage Shellenbarger of Mount Pleasant; Siobhan Szerencsits of Lewis Center, Ohio; and Parker Aerts of Muskegon. The quartet will join the program beginning in the fall.

Shellenbarger, a standout at Mount Pleasant High School, is a three-time Division II state qualifier. He has competed at the state level in the high jump, the 100-meter hurdles, and as part of the 1600-meter relay.

Jaime specializes in sprints and last season set the Providence Catholic outdoor school record with a 48.95-second clocking in the 400-meter dash. He also earned the prestigious Anthony R. Lawless Award, which goes to the top athlete in each sport in the Chicago Catholic League.

Szerencsits is a pole vaulter who finished runner-up at the Ohio state high school indoor meet in 2017 and was fourth in the Ohio state outdoor meet last spring.

Aerts is a multi-event athletes who specializes in hurdles and sprints.

New Balance National Qualifier for both indoor and outdoor in 2017 ... holds school record for pole vault at 13 feet.
