Six Chippewas on All-MAC Mid-Season Squad

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Six Central Michigan players were named to Phil Steele’s All-Mid-American Conference Mid-Season team.

The Chippewas’ Thomas Rawls was named to the First Team Offense, while Titus Davis and Andy Phillips earned spots on the Second Team Offense.

CMU’s Joe Ostman, Justin Cherocci and Tony Annese were named to the First Team Defense.

Rawls, a senior running back, leads the MAC and is fifth in Football Bowl Subdivision with 1,007 yards rushing. His 167.8 yards per game average leads the league and is third in the nation. He also leads the league with 181.7 all-purpose yards per game.

Rawls leads the Chippewas with touchdowns and ranks fourth in the MAC in scoring at 10 points per game.

Despite missing three games because of injury, Davis leads the Chippewas in both receptions (31) and receiving yards (502), and he shares the team lead with four touchdown catches. He is third in the MAC with 100.4 yards receiving per game.

Phillips, a senior left guard, has started 38 consecutive games.

Cherocci, a senior and a three-year starter at linebacker, is CMU’s leading tackler with 78, including 37 solos and 3.5 tackles-for-loss.

Ostman, the lone true sophomore on the Chippewa roster, is third on the team with 44 tackles including a team-best 7.5 TFL. He also has two sacks and has forced a fumble.

Annese, a sophomore safety, is CMU’s second-leading tackler with 46 stops. He leads the Chippewas in both interceptions (3) and pass breakups (7). Annese is tied for second in the league in interceptions.
