The Mid-American Conference released its full league schedule today, and the Chippewas have a fan-friendly slate of games. Consider:
- All six of CMU's home games are on Saturdays. Central Michigan also plays five of its six home games in September and October.
- Western Michigan returns to Kelly/Shorts Stadium on Oct. 20. The classic rivalry drew a sell-out crowd at Kelly/Shorts Stadium in 2016, and the Chippewas claimed the Victory Cannon Trophy in 2017 with a dramatic come-from-behind 35-28 victory against the Broncos.
- A Big 12 team visits: Kansas serves as the first home game opponent in 2018 on Sept. 8. The Chippewas beat the Jayhawks, 45-27, at Kansas last season.
- CMU plays three consecutive home games in October. Buffalo returns to Kelly/Shorts Stadium for the first time since 2015 on Oct. 6. A week later, Ball State is in town, and the game against Western Michigan completes the home stand.
"There is a lot to like about our schedule, both as a fan and as a coach," CMU football coach John Bonamego said. "We have five home games by Oct. 20, with three consecutive games early on in conference play. We talk a lot about showing your Chippewa pride around here, and with a schedule like this we will need our students, alumni and fans to show theirs by packing Kelly/Shorts Stadium."
The Chippewas, coming off an 8-5 season that included their fourth consecutive bowl game, also welcome Maine to Kelly/Shorts Stadium on Sept. 22.
"It's a great time to be a fan of CMU football," CMU Vice President and Director of Athletics Michael Alford said. "We play at a high level and offer an affordable, fan-friendly experience. This season of Saturday home games is what fans have craved and offers a great opportunity to support our program as a season ticket holder and Chippewa Athletic Fund member. We're making it easier than ever to buy season tickets by putting them on sale earlier and by offering the ability to put down a deposit."
Starting March 1, fans will be able to renew existing season tickets or purchase new season tickets for the 2018 season. Season ticket holder perks include commemorative game tickets, complimentary seat cushions, and a special edition game day guide. Season tickets prices are as low as $60 for general admission.
