SETTING THE SCENE

The Central Michigan men’s basketball team will entertain Lawrence Tech in its final nonconference game of the season on Friday, Dec. 29 (7 p.m.), at McGuirk Arena.

CMU opens Mid-American Conference play against Ohio on Tuesday, Jan. 2, at McGuirk Arena. The Bobcats (6-5) play host to Northwestern (Ohio) on Friday in their nonconference finale.

LAST TIME OUT
The Chippewas won their program-record 10th nonconference game, a 70-52 win over Southern Illinois-Edwardsville. CMU is 10-2, including a perfect 6-0 at home this season.

Cecil Williams scored 17 points to lead CMU past SIUE. Shawn Roundtree had 13 points, and Josh Kozinski and Luke Meyer added 12 points apiece.

UP THE LADDER
All 12 of Kozinski’s points against SIUE came on four 3-pointers, bringing his career total triples to 256. He is tied for second in program history with John Simons, who played at CMU 2012-15. Braylon Rayson holds the top spot, closing his career in 2017 with 271 triples.

GETTING DEFENSIVE
After surrendering 86 points in each of its previous two games – a loss at Southern Utah, an overtime win at Missouri-Kansas City – the Chippewas gave up 52 to SIUE. Twice this season, CMU has allowed fewer points, 48, in wins over Siena Heights and Montana State.

The Chippewas are allowing 64.8 points per game, which is tied for 41st nationally.
