MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - The Central Michigan men's basketball team will continue its postseason journey on Friday, March 16 when it visits Wofford (21-12) for a second round matchup of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament.
Tip time is set for 7 p.m. at the Terriers' Richardson Indoor Stadium in Spartanburg, S.C. Television coverage is yet to be determined. The Central Michigan IMG Sports Network radio broadcast will begin at 6:45 p.m. and can be heard on WUPS 98.5 FM and through the TuneIn app.
The Chippewas advanced with a 94-89 first round road win over Fort Wayne on Monday, getting 22 points from David DiLeo and 20 from Kevin McKay. Luke Meyer earned MVP honors for his 18-point, 7-rebound performance. The victory halted the Mastodons' 22-game home nonconference winning streak and secured CMU its second 20-win season under head coach Keno Davis.
Wofford received a first round bye.
The Terriers finished fourth in the Southern Conference regular season standings with an 11-7 record and fell in the semifinals of the SoCon Tournament, 56-55, to eventual champion UNC Greensboro. Wofford earned a signature win this season over ACC powerhouse North Carolina, 79-75, in Chapel Hill. It is lead by SoCon Player of the Year junior guard Fletcher Magee, who averages 21.6 points per game and has made an NCAA-best 140 3-pointers.
CMU is making its third appearance in four seasons in a postseason tournament. The Chippewas have never faced Wofford in the history of the program.
