Chippewa Field Hockey Announces 2023 Captains

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Second year field hockey head coach Jennifer Johnstone has named graduate transfer Kayla Kisthardt, seniors Caroline Beairsto, Hannah Havrilla, and Kate Biglin as the Chippewas 2023 season captains. All four captains are serving their first year in the position.
"These captains show tremendous leadership on a daily basis at practice and have truly committed to a higher standard of play. They each play a key role in helping our team function at the highest level." head coach Jennifer Johnstone stated.
Kisthardt the graduate transfer from Bucknell has started every game over the past two seasons racking up 16 points over the two years. In 2022 she was selected to the First Team of the All-Patriot League.
Biglin, a retuning senior for the Chippewas, finished last season fifth in the MAC with points scored (26) finishing with 10 goals. She was named to the All-MAC second team in 2022.
Havrilla and Beairsto both will make their debuts as captains on Friday against Colgate. Both have been consistent starters over the past two seasons and will be able to share their plentiful in game experience with the large incoming freshman class.
The four captains and the rest of the Chippewas will make their home debut against Old Dominion on Friday Sept. 1 at 1 pm against Old Dominion on Cristy Freese Field.
