Emily Paupore, Anya Turner blaze more than two seconds apiece from their respective personal bests, claim the eighth and ninth slots on the CMU all-time list for the 1,500 meters; Emma Francis wins 400-meter hurdles to lead 10 top-five finishes

ALLENDALE, Mich. – Central Michigan University Track & Field found some new history at NCAA II Grand Valley State University's Al Owens Classic Friday.

Emily Paupore and Anya Turner each jumped into the Chippewas' all-time list for the 1,500 meters, with respective times of 4:31.92 and 4:32.15. The performances landed the duo the eighth and ninth spots in program history, third and fourth in Friday's run.

Emma Francis led the way for CMU in podium appearances as the winner of the 400-meter hurdles in 1:04.02, followed by runner-up performances from Jaci Rife with a 5.27-meter long jump and Lauren Beckmann with a 17:38.61 in the 5,000 meters: the first and last events of the day.

Central Michigan Track & Field will prepare to send representatives to both University of Louisville's Clark Wood Invitational and to NCAA II Hillsdale College's Gina Relays next weekend.

The 2023 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships are slated for May 11-13 in Akron, Ohio.
