Field Hockey Falls In MAC Game At Appalachian State

BOONE, N.C. -- The Central Michigan field hockey team fell on Friday, 7-1, to Appalachian State in a Mid-American Conference matchup at Appalachian State's Adcock Field.
Appalachian State's Friederike Stegen scored the game's first goal less than five minutes into the contest.
Kate Biglin answered for the Chippewas with her team-high third goal of the season in the 10th minute. Amelia Lane drew the assist.
Appalachian State, which improved to 4-3, 1-1 MAC, scored three goals in a 43-second span late in the second quarter for a 4-1 halftime lead.
The Mountaineers finished with a 15-2 advantage in shots on goal and a 7-0 edge in penalty corners.
Katie Maxim and Maja Halasz split the game in goal for CMU. Both made four saves.
The Chippewas, 1-7, 0-2, will play No. 15 William & Mary (5-3) on Sunday, Sept 25 (11 a.m.) at the Tribe's Busch Field. William & Mary is coming off back-to-back losses, the first to No. 25 James Madison, 1-0; and the second to No. 11 UConn, 3-1.
