Field Hockey Falls In Nonleaguer To Ohio

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Central Michigan field hockey team fell on Friday, 5-2, to Ohio in a nonconference game at Michigan's Phyllis Ocker Field.
The Chippewas (1-2) trailed, 9-5, in shots on goal and 8-2 in penalty corners.
CMU's Alice O'Hagan scored the first goal of the game in the second minute, assisted by Caroline Beairsto.
The Chippewas' Kate Biglin had three shots on goal, scoring from the 25 in a penalty one-on-one with five minutes left on play.
CMU keeper Katie Maxim made two saves in the first quarter. Freshman Maja Halasz played the final three in her collegiate debut, and also made two saves.
Katelyn Whittle finished with a hat trick to lead the Bobcats (2-0).
The Chippewas are scheduled to play Michigan on Sunday, Sept. 3 (3 p.m.) in Ann Arbor. Michigan, which entered the season ranked third, is 1-1.
