Baseball Drops Series Finale

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan baseball team took its sixth Mid-American Conference loss on Sunday as the Chippewas fell to Western Michigan, 11-2, in the finale of a four-game series at Theunissen Stadium.
The Chippewas won the first three games to take the series, but were denied the sweep. It was the first time CMU has lost at home this season in 17 games.
CMU is 31-15, 24-6 MAC. The Chippewas trail first-place Ball State, which is 26-4 in league play, by two games. The Chippewas are scheduled to play host to Oakland in a nonleague game on Tuesday, May 10 (3 p.m.), and then go to Eastern Michigan for a four-game MAC series next weekend.
CMU starter Adam Mrakitsch (3-1), a freshman, took his first career loss. He allowed four runs on seven hits over 2 1/3 innings.
Ryan Palmblad, Jake Jones, Ryan Insco and Aaron Husson each pitched in relief.
The Chippewa runs came on an RBI single by Danny Wuestenfeld in the first inning and an RBI single by Mario Camilletti in the second.
Camilletti and Drew Lechnir led CMU's seven-hit attack with two each.
