Baseball Rolls To Nonconference Win

It was the Chippewas' 14th consecutive win as they improved to 24-10. They are set to return to Mid-American Conference play with a four-game home series with Akron beginning on Friday, April 22 (3 p.m.) at Theunissen Stadium. The Zips are 11-24, 9-15.
CMU leads the MAC at 17-1. Ball State (15-4) is second, 2 ½ games back. Both the Chippewas and Cardinals have 20 conference games – five four-game series – remaining including a head-to-head in Muncie, Ind. beginning on April 29.
The Chippewas totaled 16 hits, two shy of their season high 18, set on Saturday at Bowling Green. CMU has reached double digits in hits 10 times in its last 13 games, has scored double digit runs in six of its last 12 games, and is averaging 11.7 runs per game over its last 13.
Mario Camilletti led CMU with four hits and Robby Morgan followed with three against the Crusaders (19-8).
Morgan, a redshirt freshman, hit a three-run homer to give the Chippewas a 3-0 lead in the second inning. He finished with a career-high five RBI, while Camilletti and Danny Wuestenfeld added four RBI apiece, and Colton Coca finished with three.
Adam Mrakitsch (2-0) got the start for the Chippewas, striking out six across three innings for the win. He walked two and allowed just one hit.
Michael Conte, Ben Vitas, Clayton Brock, Ryan Culley, Aaron Husson and Drew Alsobrooks combined for seven strikeouts in relief. Vitas contributed a career-high three in two innings.
