Baseball Drops Weekend Finale At Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Central Michigan baseball team dropped a 4-2 decision on Sunday in the third and final game of the series at Iowa's Duane Banks Field. The Hawkeyes won two of three from the Chippewas.
The Chippewas (9-10) will resume Mid-American Conference play with their first home series of the season against Ohio, starting on Friday, April 1 (3 p.m.) at Theunissen Stadium. The Bobcats are 11-8, 5-3 MAC. CMU is 5-1 in MAC play.
Nick Dardas gave the Chippewas a 1-0 lead in the second inning with an RBI double.
Iowa tied it in the bottom of the second on a bases-loaded walk and then Peyton Williams homered in the third inning to put the Hawkeyes up, 2-1.
Mario Camilletti drew a bases-loaded walk in the top of the eighth to tie it, 2-2.
Iowa went ahead in the bottom of the eighth on a two-run single.
Danny Wuestenfeld, Dardas and Justin Simpson each doubled for CMU, which finished with five hits and drew eight walks against six Iowa pitchers. The Chippewas left 14 runners on base including eight in scoring position.
Chippewa starter Logan Buczkowski surrendered two runs on one hit, struck out nine, and walked four over 3 2/3 innings. Ryan Palmblad, Jake Jones, and Ryan Insco pitched in relief. Jones (1-1) took the loss.
Luke Llewellyn (1-0), the fifth Iowa pitcher, picked up the win. Jacob Henderson, who got the win over the Chippewas on Friday, earned the save.
