TOLEDO, Ohio – The Central Michigan University women’s track and field team got its outdoor season off to a great start with a victory at the Toledo Collegiate Challenge meet last Saturday. CMU scored 159 team points to top five Mid-American Conference rivals and Oakland University at the competition.

Mallinson, who was only eligible to compete outdoors in 2007, won an event for the fourth time in her career, while Byrne and McClure picked up their first career event wins.

The Chippewas’ runner-up finishes came from Cara Dukes (200m, 26.10), the 4x100m relay team (48.89), Erika Schroll (high jump, 5-7), Tomea Peebles (triple jump, 39-9), Mary Raney (shot put, 47-2 ¼), and Allison Jakubowski (javelin, 123-10 ½).
