MOUNT PLEASANT- The Central Michigan women’s track and field team travels to Ypsilanti, Mich. for their first scored meet at the Michigan Intercollegiates Friday and Saturday.
After three heavy weekends of competition the Chippewas had a lighter practice week to prepare for their first scored meet. The lighter work load something head coach
Karen Lutzke thinks will benefit her team come the meet.
“We are doing what we do everyday, just a little lighter this week so that we are fully ready to give it our best this weekend,” Lutzke said. “I think we are headed in the right direction.”
The Chippewas will look to face all of the Division 1 schools in Michigan this weekend with the exception of Michigan State.
“Being able to compete against Michigan’s top teams makes us better, Lutzke said to make improvements you want to compete against those equal or better than you.”
All of the team members will be competing this weekend, and many athletes will be testing out new events and expanding their repertoires including junior
Erika Schroll.
“Erika will have her plate full with the pentathlon and the high jump, Lutzke said this will be like her test run for the Mid-American Conference meet.”
