MOUNT PLEASANT -- A late second-half goal propelled Central Michigan to a 2-1 victory over Missouri State in the quarterfinal of the 2010 Mid-American Conference tournament on Thursday at the CMU Field Hockey Complex.
The No. 4 seed Chippewas (6-13, 3-7 MAC) scored 28:49 into the match on a penalty corner by Erin Dye. The Bears (5-15, 2-8 MAC) evened the score with less than two minutes left in the half on a goal by Casey Bayless, but Pam Seufert put CMU in front for good off an assist from Bailey McKeon at 54:54.
Anastasia Netto recorded two saves in net for the Chippewas, and MSU’s Andrea Bain faced two shots – both were goals.
Central Michigan faces No. 1 Kent State Friday at 11 a.m. in a semifinal match.
