MOUNT PLEASANT -- With last weekend off from competition the Central Michigan cross country program looks to get back into competition as they prepare for pre-nationals and the Mid-American Conference championship meet.
"We are really looking to get more and more competitve with each meet," head coach
Willie Randolph said. "Getting back to competition will allow us to really get some more meets in before the MAC meet."
As the Maroon and Gold travel to Louisville they will see some new teams and look to improve all around.
"We will see a lot of good competitive teams this weekend," Randolph said. "This will be a great weekend for us to try and earn some points towards Regionals and the MAC meet."
With the season in full swing now CMU will look to run more of their top runners this weekend.
"On the mens side we will be putting some more top runners in with
Sammy Kiprotich and
Jacob Korir," Randolph said. " The women have beeng doing very well with training, I expect to see good things from
Melissa Darling,
Danielle Dakroub and
Holly Anderson."
With the MAC meet just weeks away the Chippewas are looking to be as well prepared as they can.
"All around we are just running smarter, and hopfully getting some more personal best times on the weekend," Randolph said.
The Greater Louisville Classic will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday and will be hosted by the University of Louisville.
