MOUNT PLEASANT - The third annual CHIPPYS award show will be held Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m. in Warriner Hall’s Plachta Auditorium to both recognize Central Michigan student-athletes for their accomplishments and, more importantly, raise money for cancer research.
The black tie event, organized by the Student-Athlete Advisory Council, will take place in Warriner Hall's Plachta Auditorium on Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m. Tickets are available for $5 through Ticket Central or $7 at the door the night of the event. Proceeds from the event will benefit the McLaren Cancer Center in Mount Pleasant, so any above and beyond donations are encouraged and welcomed.
Now in its third year, the CHIPYS award show, which is modeled after the popular “ESPYS” ceremony by ESPN, has raised more than $7,000 for the V Foundation for Cancer Research.
Hosts Donnie Corby and Christian Cullinan of the wrestling team will unveil the top student-athletes, teams and moments of the 2011-12 academic year, with CHIPPYS trophies going to each of the winners. Awards will be given out in these categories:
The night will also feature skits and surprise performances.
Prior to the 7 p.m. show, a Maroon Carpet social will be held in the Warriner Hall lobby beginning at 6 p.m.
