Mattingly Earns NWCA Academic Honors

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.- The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) has announced the Division I All-Academic Top 30 Teams and Individual All-Academic wrestling team for the 2012-13 wrestling season. Junior Scott Mattingly received the honor for the second consecutive season.

Mattingly is an advertising major with a 3.45 GPA. He was awarded Academic All-Mid-American Conference this season for the third time in his career.

Mattingly went 20-30 in the 141-pound division this season and finished fourth at MAC Championships.

Eight MAC wrestlers were named to the NWCA All-Academic Team. Ohio led the way with four honorees.

This year’s Individual All-Academic Team honored 82 total athletes, including four NCAA Champions, four NCAA Runner-Ups, 21 All-Americans and 72 NCAA qualifiers.
