WATCH: Jock Rock Recap
MOUNT PLEASANT - Jock Rock was a success with Central Michigan student-athletes raising $1,067 for Big Brothers Big Sisters in the Heart of Michigan.
A four-judge panel graded the competition on attention to detail, lip-synching, original ideas, crowd enthusiasm, and time management. The competition was fierce with each team having a better skit than the next. The winner of Jock Rock was the men's track and field/cross country team. Women's track and field/cross country came in a close second, with wrestling coming in third and women's basketball in fourth.
All of the participants had creative, funny skits and the women's soccer team even played an April Fool's joke at Plachta Auditorium on Sunday night.
"Tonight's Jock Rock provided creativity and laughter from our student-athletes, all while supporting a good cause in Big Brothers Big Sisters," said Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Services, Kelly Higgins. "CMU student-athletes continue to work hard in the classroom, work hard in the field and arena, and Jock Rock shows their hard work and dedication to this community."
Past donations from the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee event went to the American Red Cross, Kids in Distressed Situations for Haiti, Isabella Community Soup Kitchen, United Way, and the Northern Illinois University Memorial Scholarship Fund.
