MOUNT PLEASANT -
Central Michigan's varsity sport programs came together to raise more than $1,400 for charity through the 17th Annual Jock Rock competition.

The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee sponsors the annual lip syncing competition, which features CMU's student-athletes creating original routines to perform in front of judges and a crowd of several hundred friends, fans and family members in a fun, competitive environment.

The women's track/cross country program won the 2011 competition, held Sunday at Warriner Hall's Plachta Auditorium, with field hockey finishing second and men's cross country third.

Funds from Sunday's event will be donated to the American Red Cross relief efforts in Japan. In previous years, the SAAC has donated Jock Rock funds to organizations such as Kids in Distressed Situations for Haiti, Isabella Community Soup Kitchen, United Way, and the Northern Illinois University Memorial Scholarship Fund.
