MOUNT PLEASANT – The Central Michigan University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has released a 20-page booklet outlining the many community service opportunities in which it participates on an annual basis through the Blue Cross Blue Shield Central Athletes Reaching Everyone (C.A.R.E.) program and the Athletics Director's Leadership Development Program.

The publication, which will be distributed to community and campus partners in the mid-Michigan area, highlights the department "Reaching Out in Special Times," "Working Toward a Better Future," "Creating Memorable Experiences," and "Taking Care of the Community." it also contains a list of foundations supported by the department's activities, and information on how new foundations may become involved.

"Our student-athletes know the privilege they have of being Division I student-athletes in a close-knit community such as ours," says Athletics Director Dave Heeke in the publication. "They are committed to sacrificing a portion of their time to make their 'home away from home' a thriving and healthy place.

Chippewas student-athletes bring to life the department's "Together We Are Maroon" campaign by annualy contributing more than 4,000 hours and $10,000 to the local and national causes.
