McIntyre and Coates Lead Four All-MAC Selections

MOUNT PLEASANT - Sophomore Kaitlyn McIntyre and junior Jenna Coates each were named to the All-Mid-American Conference First Team Thursday afternoon, leading a group of four Chippewas to earn All-MAC honors.

Junior setter Kelly Maxwell was named to the second team, while freshman middle Angelique White earned MAC All-Freshman team accolades.

The four selections are the most since the Chippewas had four honorees during the 2007 campaign.

McIntyre (Beaver Dam, Wis./Beaver Dam) earns first-team honors a year after being named to the MAC All-Freshman team. The sophomore finished fifth in the MAC with a 3.53 kills per set average and was named MAC West Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 24. She recorded a career-high 27 kills versus Western Michigan on Sept. 22 and nearly tied the mark with 26 kills in the MAC regular season finale against Ball State Nov. 11.

Coates (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) earns All-MAC honors for the first time in her career in a year in which she was named the MAC West Defensive Player of the Week a league-high four times. She posted four of the top 10 dig marks in the MAC this season, including a career-high 34 in the Chippewas' season opener versus Auburn Aug. 24. Coates averaged 4.99 digs/set with 509 overall, good for third in the conference.

Maxwell (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) finished second in the league behind only MAC Setter of the Year Terin Norris in assist per set, finishing with 1,093 assists for a 11.51 average. She was twice named MAC West Offensive Player of the Week, including following a career-high 79-assist performance in the MAC regular season finale versus Ball State. Her 47 assists in a three-set sweep of Eastern Michigan Sept. 27 was the highest three-set mark of any player in the conference, as was her 79 five-set mark versus the Cardinals.

Angelique White (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Academy of Sacred Heart) finished ninth in the MAC with a .278 hitting percentage, the second highest among MAC freshman behind only Freshman of the Year Stephenee Yancy of Western Michigan. She has recorded nine double-digit kill efforts, including a season-high 14 in her debut versus Auburn Aug. 24. White earned MAC West Defensive Player of the Week honors Oct. 1.

The Chippewas and their four All-MAC selections will begin their title defense of the MAC Tournament Friday afternoon versus No. 3 seed Western Michigan at 1:30 p.m. inside the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
