Chippewas Set to Host Conference Foes #25 Ohio and #7 MIzzou

Mount Pleasant, Mich. -  The Central Michigan wrestling program will return to the friendly confines of McGuirk Arena this week for a pair of MId-American Conference duals versus No. 25 Ohio and No. 7 MIssouri.

The Chippewas (6-5, 2-1 MAC) will kick off the week with the third annual Royal Rumble & Tumble in conjunction with the CMU gymnastics program. The wrestling program will take on the Bobcats (5-1, 1-1 MAC), while the gymnastics program will host William & Mary. The event is set to begin at 7 p.m.

CMU will wrap up its week versus MAC affiliate Missouri, ranked seventh in the country, on Sunday at 2 p.m.

MAC Announces January Rankings: The Chippewas are still slight underdogs in the most recent MAC rankings released Thursday morning as they are tied for fourth with 13.0 points. Defending MAC Champion Missouri is the league favorite with 21.0 points, while the Panthers are ranked second with 20.0 points. Senior Joe Roth and junior Mike Ottinger held strong at 133 and 174 pounds as they are both still ranked second, while redshirt freshman Corey Keener and sophomore Zach Horan fell to No. 3 in the conference at 125 and 141 pounds respectively. 

CMU vs. Ohio: The Chippewas lead the all-time series, 24-17. CMU has claimed the last two meetings, including last season in Athens, Ohio, 23-12. The Chippewas scored bonus points in four of their six wins, including major decisions by Joe Roth and Tyler Keselring. 

CMU vs. Missouri: The Chippewas and Tigers have met seven times in program history with an even 3-3-1 record in the all-time series. CMU claimed last season's meeting as the No. 12 Chippewas gave No. 7 Missouri its' first loss of the season, 17-16.
