MOUNT PLEASANT — Central Michigan junior Niki DiGuilio has been named one of five student-athletes from the state of Michigan to the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan Women’s College Academic-Athletic Honors Team, the organization announced.
DiGuilio has excelled both on and off the court for the Chippewas, posting a 3.60 grade point average as a biology/biomedical sciences major. She helped lead the Chippewas to a Mid-American Conference Tournament championship and berth in the NCAA Tournament while averaging 7.3 points and 2.0 rebounds per game.
The prolific three-point shooter was named the MAC Player of the Week once during her junior season and shot 40.6 percent from behind the arc.
To be eligible for the award, players have to either be a starter or an important reserve and have at least a 3.2 GPA. The BCAM teams are selected on the basis of academic achievement, athletic accomplishments, grade point average and their coach’s BCAM membership.2013 BCAM Women’s College Academic-Athletic Honors Team
