MOUNT PLEASANT -- Sophomore Kara Dornbos has been named to the 2011 Capital One Academic All‐District ® first team.
The sophomore, who leads the team in apperances, wins, complete games and innings pitched, earned first-team honors in the in her first year of eligibility.
Dornbos (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville Christian HS) ranks second in the Mid-American Conference in ERA during her second season, while maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA as a health fitness prevention & rehab major.
Coldren (West Bloomfield, Mich./Notre Dame HS) has broke her own single-season home run record with 14 during her junior season and has hit 28 over her illustrious career, the most in program history. Coldren maintains a 3.53 GPA as a language arts major.
Knoop (Reed City, Mich./Reed City HS) was named as one of three outfielders on the third team, joining fellow MAC counterpart Lindsay Arney of Bowling Green. Knoop maintains a near perfect 3.95 GPA as a hospitality services major and has drove in 15 runs during her sophomore season, primarily from the number two spot in CMU's lineup.
The Academic All‐District ® teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The University Division team includes NCAA Division I participants, while the College Division team combines NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, Canadian and two‐year schools.
