The senior carries a 3.65 grade-point average in Sport Studies. As a member of the first team, he will be placed on the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where First, Second and Third Team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
Thomas was one of five players named to the District 4 First Team, joining four juniors - Michigan's Zack Novak, Belmont's Mick Hedgepeth and Scott Saunders, and Morehead State's Ty Proffitt. The teams are comprised by ballots distributed to sports information directors across the country. To be eligible, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA, have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games, and have completed at least one full year at his current institution.
