Central Michigan dropped its series opener at Toledo Saturday and will look to bounce back Sunday with a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 12:05 p.m.
Chippewas Shut Out in Opener at Toledo, 11-0

TOLEDO, Ohio - Central Michigan was limited to three hits and Toledo scored in every inning but one Saturday afternoon to take the opening game of the Mid-American Conference series at Scott Park, 11-0.

The Chippewas (16-20, 5-8 MAC) will hope to get back on track Sunday afternoon with a pair of wins over the Rockets (13-23, 5-8 MAC) as the two teams are scheduled to start a doubleheader at 12:05.

The Rockets' Kyle Shaw proved too much for the Chippewas to handle as the left hander tossed a complete game and struck out nine batters.

While Shaw was containing the CMU offense, Toledo's offense was scoring at will, putting up seven runs over - six earned - over the first four innings of play on CMU starter sophomore Jordan Foley. Foley entered the game having given up just seven earned runs all season, but suffered his second loss of the season after giving up eight hits, a pair of walks and striking out just two.

Sophomores Nick Regnier and Pat MacKenzie and junior Noel Santos each recorded a hit in the contest, but the Chippewas were just unable to get any offense going as they just twice put runners in scoring position in the contest.
