Arvesen comes to Central Michigan after five seasons at Minnesota State University. Arvesen served as assistant coach before being named interim head coach with the MSU women’s soccer program since the summer of 2008 and, in her five seasons at MSU (2008-12), the Mavericks accumulated a 74-21-13 overall record, including four NCAA postseason appearances.
In 2012, Minnesota State completed the best season in program history, as it finished 17-1-5 and claimed the school’s first-ever Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference regular season championship. Additionally, the Mavericks advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Division II Championship, which is farther than any team in school or conference history.

While at Minnesota State, Arvesen served as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Liason and as an assistant professor, instructing both First Year Experience and Fitness classes. In addition to her duties as coach and instructor, Arvesen served as the director for the Maverick Soccer Academy from 2008-13.   

Prior to Minnesota State, Arvesen spent 2007-08 as a graduate assistant at South Dakota State University.

Arvesen has made great efforts in strengthening her professional career, including attending the NCAA Alliance of Women Coaches ‘Huddle’ Workshop, graduating from the NCAA Women’s Coaches Academy, becoming a member of the Alliance of Women Coaches and NACWAA, completing NSCAA ‘C’ License Coursework, attending the Macalaster College NSCAA Coaching Workshop, serving on the YWCA Girls on the Run Program Committee and completing coursework for her United States Soccer Federation National D Coaching License.

A Pine Springs, Minn. native, Arvesen received her bachelor’s degree from Creighton University before earning a master’s degree in education leadership from Minnesota State in 2010.
While at Creighton, Arvesen was a four-year letterwinner in soccer and helped guide the Bluejays to Missouri Valley Conference championships and NCAA Championship berths in 2004 and 2005.
