Soccer Announces Three Spring Roster Additions

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan announced the addition of Minnesota transfer Kristen Knutson, Valparaiso transfer Jordan Young and freshman enrollee Taylor Vermaat to the 2014 soccer spring roster.

Knutson, a sophomore goalkeeper, tallied 118 saves with a save percentage average of .849 during her two year stint with the Golden Gophers. The Eagan, Minn. native appeared in five games for a total of 335 minutes of play, posting a 1-0-0 record during the 2013 season.

The 2012 Eagan High School graduate broke numerous state goalkeeping records, including totaling 43 shutouts in her high school career. Knutson was voted team captain and MVP in 2011 when she was named First Team All-Metro by the Minneapolis Star Tribune and the St. Paul Pioneer Press, a Minnesota All-State selection, an NSCAA All-Region V team member and recognized on ESPN's Top 20 National Goalkeeper list.

Young, a defender, appeared in 10 games for the Valparaiso Crusaders in her freshman season of 2013, accumulating 219 minutes of playing time while posting three shots on goal. 

Young attended Mason High School where she was named team captain and was a three-year letter winner. Her on the field accolades during her high school career include being named to the 2013 Michigan Division II All-State Second Team, a All-CHAC Goal Division honoree for three consecutive years and a three-year All-District selection.

Vermaat is enrolling at CMU for the spring semester after graduating from Wayland Union High School.

Vermaat tallied a total of 41 goals during her three-year career for Wayland Wildcats. She served as team captain for her sophomore and junior year.
